How Grower ERP Pricing Actually Works

Almost nobody in this market publishes pricing, so it looks more complicated than it is. Every quote comes down to two numbers: core pricing and add-on pricing.

Core pricing

Each category from The Four Ways Grower Software Gets Built prices a different way. Purpose-built legacy systems charge a mix of onboarding, subscription, and services fees. Platform verticals charge a large up-front implementation and then maintenance, with customization and support billed separately. New entrants price per user or as a flat subscription; the price is simple, but verify the depth behind it. Point solutions each have their own price. Add them all up before you compare. Underneath, most quotes are built from three parts: per-user pricing that grows with your headcount, operation-based pricing that stays flat as your team changes, and module-based pricing that charges for the capabilities you actually run.

Add-on pricing

The add-ons are where quotes drift apart. Six line items to ask about: implementation and onboarding; data migration; integrations with accounting, EDI, e-commerce, and hardware; training; the support tier; and upgrades, which in some categories are a paid project every few years priced like a second implementation. One cost that rarely shows up on the quote is your own team’s hours during setup and training. On platform verticals, the platform license, the vertical layer, and partner services are often three separate lines from three separate parties.

Time is part of the cost too. For most categories, especially legacy systems and platform verticals, plan on months and sometimes more than a year for implementation. For a modern, scalable, AI-native platform, it might only take a week or two. Ask every vendor what self-service training and documentation your team gets.

Five questions that get real answers

  • What’s the all-in cost for year one?
  • What’s the all-in cost for year three?
  • What makes the price grow: users, volume, modules, or something else?
  • What does support cost at the tier where someone actually answers in peak season?
  • What happens at renewal?

These questions apply to us too. Ask us what year one and year three cost for your operation.
